Funeral customs are the embodiment of a regime or ethnic culture.As a northern regime ruling a variety of ethnic groups,the cultural complexity of Liao led to the diversity of funeral customs,which was particularly evident in the use and types of funeral tools.Academic research on Liao Tomb has been extremely in-depth,and various academic achievements emerge in an endless stream.In the study of burial devices in Liao tombs,coffins,coffin beds,small tents,metal net clothes,metal masks and idols of true appearance have received full attention.Many articles have analyzed the functions,characteristics and sources of various burial devices from the aspects of archaeology,Khitan burial customs,Khitan culture and religion.However,most of these articles focus on the individual study of burial instruments,and pay little attention to the whole,and mostly introduce their shape,structure and characteristics from the perspective of archaeology,and fail to explore the trend and causes of their development and change in a more in-depth way.Therefore,the main task of this paper is to combine archaeological results with historical thinking,have a clear understanding of all the tombs unearthed in Liao Tomb,explore the differences in the use of burial gear in age,region,family and class,analyze the causes of the differences and trace the origin of burial gear.This paper is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly discusses the purpose and significance of the article,puts forward the innovation points of this paper,and introduces the relevant research results in the academic circle today.The second chapter is an overview of funerary devices in the Liao Tomb.It introduces and analyzes the funerary devices in the form of tables and pictures,so as to display all funerary devices unearthed in the Liao Tomb more directly and clearly.According to the different burial methods,it can be divided into coffin burial gear and coffin burial gear;According to the different burial customs,it can be subdivided into cremation funerary equipment and bone funerary equipment.The third chapter is the differentiation analysis of funerary devices in Liao Tombs.Through the specific description of funerary devices in 431 archaeological briefs,it sorts out and analyzes the differences of funerary devices in different ages,regions,clans and strata,and analyzes the main reasons for the differences.According to the staging method proposed by predecessors,the chronology can be divided into three periods,namely the early Liao Dynasty,the middle Liao Dynasty and the late Liao Dynasty.According to the five capitals set up by Liao regime,the region was divided into Upper Capital Road,Middle Capital Road,Tokyo Road,Nanjing Road and Xijing Road.The stratum is subdivided into royal family,noble officials,squire rich merchants and commoners.The fourth chapter is about the origin and flow of Liao funerary tools,and explores the reasons for the emergence of relevant funerary tools in Liao tombs by considering various aspects and combining with previous research results.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,summarizing and summarizing the whole article.As an important part of funerary customs,funerary ware has its unique significance and value.The study of Liao tombs is helpful to understand the cultural inheritance and exchange and integration between the Khitan,the Han culture in Central Plains and the northern ethnic groups.
