| Based on the proposal of the rural revitalization strategy,the integration of urban and rural development has gradually narrowed the urban-rural gap.More and more rural youth are undergoing a transformation from "leaving their hometown" to "returning home".Throughout the development of contemporary Chinese rural themed documentaries,it is not difficult to find that the theme of "rural youth entrepreneurship" is either implicit or explicit.In the evolution of the theme of rural documentaries,the type of "rural youth entrepreneurship themed documentary" emerged.In such documentaries,"rural" itself participates as a space in the narrative of the documentary,giving the film a richer spatial semantics.This paper explores the construction of narrative space in documentaries from the perspectives of spatial theory and creative practice.Based on the theoretical system of narrative space both domestically and internationally,with Gabriel Zolen’s narrative space theory as the main theoretical support,and the graduation work "A Letter to Returning Youth" as the sample.The research covers documentaries on rural youth entrepreneurship in the market.Efforts should be made to explore the formal techniques and creative patterns of documentaries in terms of narrative space,and to analyze their social and cultural significance.This paper is divided into five chapters: Chapter 1 "Narrative Space and Rural Youth Entrepreneurship Theme Documentary",which first provides a series of conceptual discussions on the theory of "narrative space".Then,in the historical evolution of rural youth entrepreneurship themed documentaries,the three constituent elements of this type of documentary were sorted out,in order to make a clear definition of rural youth entrepreneurship themed documentaries.Chapter 2 "Interleaving of Virtual and Real: Selection of Geographical Space" mainly discusses the objective and real geographical space as the carrier of the main activities in documentaries,including two parts: "real space" and "virtual space".The two work together to construct a geological space for rural youth entrepreneurship themed documentaries through interweaving and merging.The third chapter "Storytelling of entrepreneurial joys and sorrows: Presentation of spatiotemporal space" is mainly divided into two parts: "diachronic design" and "synchronic presentation".The diachronic nature of the story’s time and space is influenced by the author’s intention,character behavior,and plot contradictions;Synchronicity helps documentaries shape character images,character psychology,and character relationships.Chapter 4 "Director’s Expression of Entrepreneurship Process: Building Text Space" mainly elaborates on the creative strategies of documentary text space,including the selection of audio-visual language,the establishment of narrative structure,and the flow and changes of narrative perspectives.Chapter 5 "The Value Extraction of Emotional Space in Rural Youth Entrepreneurship Documentaries" discusses the social and cultural value of rural youth entrepreneurship themed documentaries and the expression of emotional space from both content and practice perspectives.This paper believes that the study of narrative space theory can expand new fields of narratology research.Treating narrative space as an artistic technique and applying it to the creation of rural themed documentaries can create distinct geological spaces.By processing and restructuring spatial elements,creators can endow documentaries with specific spatial semantics and generate unique spatial imagination. |
