| International students from Guangxi University encounter various difficulties in the process of learning Chinese and have different needs for learning Chinese.This paper takes international students of Guangxi University as the research object.The questionnaire had been designed based on the Hutchinson & Waters,Allwright needs analysis model to investigate the international students’ learning situation in China in terms of comprehensive Chinese learning,specialized course learning and learning needs.The study found that international students were generally satisfied with the comprehensive Chinese language courses,and most of them thought that the content of the comprehensive Chinese language courses should be more about listening,speaking,reading and writing Chinese characters.In addition,most of the international students hope that the duration of the comprehensive Chinese course can be adjusted to one year,so that they can strengthen and improve their Chinese language skills and cope with the difficulties they encounter in their major courses.Regarding the difficulties encountered by international students in their major courses,most of them think that it is difficult to do homework and take exams in major courses.In terms of "listening",there are too many specialized vocabularies,and international students often face the dilemma of not understanding in class.In terms of "speaking",international students have the ability to master their major knowledge,but they have great difficulties in expressing themselves in Chinese.In "reading" aspect,specialized vocabularies greatly affects international students’ reading and understanding of specialist books.In "writing" aspect,most international students often make mistakes or cannot write Chinese characters and their Chinese writing skills are insufficient.This paper provides suggestion for teachers,school administrators and students.For teachers and school administrators,they should design teaching contents and practice according to the motivation of international students in Chinese,adjust the contents of teaching materials appropriately,increase the time of comprehensive Chinese language classes,and try to establish more specialized Chinese courses.For students,they should increase the input of specialized vocabularies,do an intensive practice of Chinese character writing,and practice more Chinese for academic purpose. |
