"Tree stone" has an important significance and role in the artistic conception creation of landscapes in the Northern Song Dynasty.Through participating in the discussion of "tree stone" in the artistic conception creation of landscapes in the wilderness and cold,this article explores how "tree stone" expresses the theme and meaning of the painting,that is,the relationship between "tree stone" and "artistic conception creation of landscapes.".Select the classic works in landscape paintings from the Five Dynasties to the Northern Song Dynasty that embody the desolate and cold artistic conception,conduct a systematic analysis of the distribution and morphological characteristics of tree and stone combinations in the works,and use the method of combining image analysis and painting theory to discuss the relationship between tree and stone and artistic conception creation,and draw the following conclusions:Trees and stones are the foundation of landscape construction.There is a clear correlation between the number of tree stone combinations and the richness of spatial levels.In different landscape painting genres,tree stones present different forms of line and surface layout.The characteristics of trees and stones in the desolate and cold environment contain some or several artistic features such as loneliness,coldness,wildness,and tranquility.The relationship between tree and stone and creating environment is mainly reflected in three aspects.The first is to put the intention first in creating the environment.Secondly,the presentation of the created environment should be achieved through the establishment of specific tree stone shapes.Thirdly,the key to creating a landscape is landscape artistic conception creation,that is,the participation of trees and stones in space artistic conception creation and scene artistic conception creation.Finally,explore the footprints of "North Li,South Lu",and combine the tree stones in the paintings of Li Keran and Lu Yanshao to find enlightenment on practice: The artistic conception creation should focus on the characteristics of trees and stones,shape and create scenery,rooted in tradition,deeply understood objects,diligent in thinking,improved judgment,conforming to the spiritual imprints of the times,and integrating individual experiences through practice.
