| In 1924,with the passing of the eighth Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, addressing the influence of religion on Mongolian society, resolving the issues from the "constitutional monarchy" period of 1921-1924,and advancing the socialist revolution became the primary tasks of the Mongolian People’s(Revolutionary)Party,a proletarian political party. In order to successfully implement the socialist system, the Mongolian People’s Revolution Party needed to formulate a religious policy that aligned with the international situation and the social conditions in Mongolia at that time. This was crucial for transforming the penetration of religious influence into various aspects of society and overcoming the long-standing fusion of politics and religion.Under the influence of the Communist International, the party developed its religious policy based on a Marxist perspective on religion. This policy included restrictions on monasteries, monks, and ideological aspects of religion, while also promoting the development of indigenous religious characteristics.Through these efforts, the Mongolian People’s Revolution Party established the dominant position of socialist culture in the realm of ideology, which had a profound and lasting impact during the period of anti-imperialism,anti-feudalism,and socialist construction. This paper presents a systematic study of the formulation and evolution of the religious policy of the Mongolian People’s Revolution Party,as well as the practical experiences of implementing Marxist views on religion. The research draws on a range of Chinese and foreign archival documents,as well as previous scholarly works on the subject. The paper is divided into four sections: an introduction, main body, conclusion, and references. The introduction provides an overview of the research objectives, the significance of the topic, and the methods employed. The main body consists of three chapters.Chapter 1 analyzes and explores the background of the Mongolian People’s Revolution Party’s formulation of the religious policy between 1921 and 1992.Chapter 2 delves into the specific content of the party’s religious policy.Chapter 3examines the characteristics and impacts of the religious policy. The conclusion summarizes the findings from the preceding chapters and offers the author’s own perspectives. |
