| From the perspective of limit theory in Western philosophy,everything in the world has limits,and the limit is the necessary condition for existence of things.Without the boundary,there is no existence of things.At the same time,the limit means crossing.A limit that cannot be crossed is meaningless,and the development of things is the transcendence and integration of the inherent limits.The limit theory of Western philosophy has been applied to pedagogy and evolved into an influential theory--the border education theory.As the education of language and culture,there are multiple limits in international Chinese education,such as the limits of language,the limits of culture,and the limits between language and culture,among which the limits of culture take the dominant role.In the teaching process,learners not only need to figure out the limits between the culture of their own language and the culture of Chinese language,but also need to tell the limits between the culture of their own language and that of other learners’ language.However,due to problems like the lack of people’s awareness and the certain stage of development of the discipline,the issue of limits has not been given sufficient attention,and there are very few studies that have analyzed the development of this discipline from the perspective of limit.Nowadays,the international Chinese language education has entered a new stageturning from "language" education into "Chinese" education,and its cultural content has been increasingly emphasized.The issue of cultural limits and the awareness of cultural crossings are becoming more and more prominent,so it is more important to guide students to recognize andcross linguistic and cultural limits,so that they can achieve linguistic and cultural integration and become the so-called "people who cross boundaries" in border education theory.In this paper,we analyze in detail the disciplinary characteristics,development status,existing problems and future directions of international Chinese language education from the perspective of limit theory in Western philosophy and border education theory based on the idea of limit,and then try to give some relevant suggestions.Although international Chinese language education has been able to grasp the general characteristics of limit in four aspects:language teaching,culture teaching,teachers’ awareness and the environment of students’ learning and living,it still lacks boundary-crossing awareness and methods in varying degrees.Nowadays,in the background of globalization,international Chinese education should start from the perspective of boundaries and further strengthen the cultivation of awareness and ability to cross the limits of words and sentences in language teaching,the awareness of two-way communication in cultural teaching,teachers’ language and cultural attainment as well as awareness and ability of crossing boundaries,and students’awareness and ability of crossing limits in life,giving full play to the characteristics of border education,guiding the communication of language and culture from one-way spread to two-way exchange,so as to bring this discipline into a new developmental stage. |
