Objective: Using conventional acupuncture as a control, contrastingly observing the clinical efficacy and safety of the filiform-fire needle in treating patients with type Ⅲ prostatitis. This study provides new insights and offers potential therapeutic strategies to alleviate the severity of type Ⅲ prostatitis. Methods: 60 patients diagnosed with type Ⅲ prostatitis who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 30 cases each group, and were treated with filiform-fire needle and conventional acupuncture respectively. All the patients accessed the same health education, and the same treatment acupoints were selected in both groups.Abdominal acupoints and back acupoints were alternately punctured every other day.Therapeutic acupuncture is performed once a day,10 treatments made one session, and a total of 2 sessions was included.National Institutes of Health-Chronic prostatitis symptom index(NIH-CPSI)score(including pain and discomfort score, urination symptom score, quality of life score),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)score, and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)score were recorded before and after treatment, and the overall clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared.Results:1.Intra-group comparison:NIH-CPSI total score, pain and discomfort score, urination symptom score, quality of life score,SAS score, and SDS score of the patients after treatment were all reduced apparently as compared with those before treatment in the filiform-fire needle group and the conventional acupuncture group(P<0.01).2.Comparison between groups: After two courses of treatment,NIH-CPSI total score, pain and discomfort score, urination symptom score and SAS score of the patients in the filiform-fire needle group were significantly lower than those in the conventional acupuncture group(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the filiform-fire needle group was 93.33%,higher than 86.67% of the control group, and the overall efficacy of the filiform-fire needle group was better than the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in quality of life score and SDS score between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).3.Safety evaluation: 60 patients in both groups did not have adverse events, such as infection, dizziness, severe pain, and both acupuncture methods had good safety.Conclusion:1.The filiform-fire needle therapy can effectively treat type Ⅲ prostatitis.2.The treatment of type Ⅲ prostatitis with filiform-fire needle therapy is superior to conventional acupuncture in terms of reducing the total NIH-CPSI score, relieving pain and discomfort, improving urination symptoms, and relieving anxiety for type-Ⅲ prostatitis patients. It has better overall efficacy and good safety, which deserved to be popularized and applied in clinical practice.
