In the 1895,Japan won the Sino-Japanese War and obtained Taiwan from the Qing Dynasty, becoming the first colonial empire in modern East Asia.As a latecomer to the colonial empire,Japan,on the one hand, used the colonial policy of the western Empire as the object of study in the colonial rule:Japanese history researcher Sangubo pointed out that "from the 19th century century, the West became the enemy of Japan as well as the object of Japanese vision",thus "oppression","slavery","exploitation" Has become a few key words of colonial rule policy, but on the other hand,Japan has touted the "characteristics" of its colonial rule, made a policy of assimilation with the principle of "homogeneity of the same text" and "Equal treatment",and in the course of nearly half a century of rule,Japan has strongly hoped that the inhabitants of Taiwan will be "Japanese",It is one of the means to assimilate the inhabitants of Taiwan by using this medium of newspapers and periodicals. After encroaching on Taiwan, the colonists faced the surging anti-Japanese movement of the people on the island, and because of the multiple considerations of unifying colonial decrees, easing tensions, supporting agricultural planting and carrying out cultural infiltration, the government of Taiwan focused on running newspapers for the sake of its colonial rule, but unexpectedly set off a small climax for the development of Taiwan’s journalism."Taiwan Daily News"is born in the climax of this newspaper,in the merger of the "Taiwan newspaper" and"Taiwan daily" on the basis of the official establishment in May 1898,to April 1944 by his newspaper merger,"Taiwan daily newspaper" A total of 46 years of issuance, roughly synchronized with the entire Japanese era,is the 20th century half of Taiwan’s most longest standing Newspaper, which was also the largest and most widely distributed newspaper in Taiwan during the period of the Japanese obtained Taiwan, had a profound influence on Japan’s colonial rule over Taiwan at that time.In the context of practicing the western colonial policy and touting its colonial rule of "assimilation",the Taiwan daily newspaper, the Royal newspaper of Taiwan’s Government office,as one of the tools of Japanese colonial rule, also expressed the characteristics of Japanese colonial rule, embodied in the Taiwan daily newspaper,is to care for people’s livelihood,Carrying forward the appearance of cultural enlightened and so on,under the tension of seemingly not entirely attached to the Government office, passing the newspaper on behalf of the rulers to enlighten the inhabitants of Taiwan to accept colonial rule,to kill the people against the anti-Japanese sentiment,to achieve a deeper colonial intent-to shape Taiwan into the rear of Japan’s further foray into the whole of East Asia. This paper will use the literature analysis method, historical analysis method, case analysis method, with the help of the collection of the original newspapers and related literature historical materials, combined with Taiwan’s policy of Japanese colonial domination to influence the background of the Times, trying to systematically sort out the establishment and development of "Taiwan Daily News",and at the same time explore the style and content of newspapers Combining with the paper as the objective historical orientation of the Imperial newspaper under the colonial rule of the government office, this paper analyzes how the newspaper specifically and the government office under the appearance of the relationship between the newspaper and the government, while maintaining a detached, sometimes dependent and free,to carry out the colonial education policy of the rulers, thus embodying the characteristics of its colonial rule-"Repression" and " Conciliation" in parallel.
