Research On The Campaign To Eliminate Counter-revolutionary In Suzhou

On July 1,1955,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the"Instructions on Starting a Struggle to Eliminate Hidden Counter-revolutionaries",marking the official start of the campaign to eliminate counter-revolutionaries.The movement took steps such as mobilizing the masses,political queuing,confession and whistleblowing campaign,group struggles,screening and reviewing,etc.,with the aim of eliminating counter-revolutionaries hidden on all fronts across the country.In accordance with the unified deployment of the Central Committee and the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee,Suzhou City established a five-member team to lead the movement,combining the work of censoring cadres with the struggle to eliminate counter-revolutionaries.The movement to eliminate counter-revolutionaries in Suzhou City began in July 1955 and ended in 1964.It went through three stages.First,it was fully promoted in the party and government agencies and institutions.During the "Great Leap Forward",a new task of eliminating counter-revolutionaries was proposed.The three-year difficult period turned to internally eliminate the counter-revolutionary movement.At this point,the mass suppression of eliminate counter-revolutionaries came to an end.Beginning in 1963,the eliminate counter-revolutionary movement in Suzhou came to an end in the middle an inner clean-up work.The movement to eliminate counter-revolutionaries is an all-round game between the ruling party and counter-revolutionaries.On the one hand,this movement has purified the organization,consolidated the political power,and promoted the development of the socialist revolution and construction.On the other hand,due to the limitations of the times and the abnormal development of mass movements,the movement to eliminate counter-revolutionaries inevitably produced many negative effects.While summing up the achievements of the campaign to eliminate counter-revolutionaries,we must reflect on the problems arising from the movement in a timely manner,raise the awareness of democracy and the legal system,and promote the modern development of the country.
