The object of mass communication studies has always been limited to human communication behavior in modern times, but the transmission history of ancient China for thousands of years has been ignored by the academic circle and has not been given due attention. With the rapid development of Internet technology, all media behaviors of human beings are undergoing restructuring and the media ecology is also being reshaped. The original communication theories have been unable to explain the endless new communication phenomena. At the historical moment when the development of communication studies is in a difficult situation and enters a bottleneck, some scholars begin to explore new possibilities. In view of the new changes of communication ecology,Professor Yu Fasheng wants to return to the essence and respond to the reality, and puts forward the concept of "communication link".He called for the construction of communication and communication, and divided the information exchange of human society into four periods:"legend","transmission","transmission" and "transmission and communication" according to the different modes of communication and media technology. The media forms of these four periods did not develop in a linear and independent way,but formed a multi-information circulation pattern that overlapped and co-existed.The post system in the Qin and Han Dynasties studied in this paper is the main way of information transmission in the "transmission" period of the four periods. It is a kind of physical transmission of information through the spatial displacement of the material carrier.Ancient Postal activities originated in Xia,Shang and Zhou.In summer,"Chizheng"was set up to manage the vehicle travel and take charge of communication activities.Shang established the transmission system to transmit information; The Zhou Dynasty made great efforts to build important roads as a postal network and set up special officials to organize and manage communications. The Chinese feudal post system originated from the Qin and Han dynasties. After the transformation of the media of utensils, symbols, transportation construction and the system of laws and regulations, the ancient society officially entered the "transmission" period with the final establishment and improvement of the post system in the Qin and Han empires. From the point of view of communication discipline, this paper studies and sorts out the five aspects of the establishment of post organization, the establishment of management system, the regulation of the transmission mode, the classification of the content of the transmission and the formulation of the postal law,and summarizes the characteristics and patterns of "transmission" as the ancient information circulation mode.In the process of transmission, the ancient post organization played a single specific role which was responsible for the transmission of information, and had no connection with the production of information content.Postal system of this way of information transmission, order to follow the bureaucratic hierarchy, the structure of vertical transmission mainly, hierarchical.According to the nature, type and route of transmission of information, various transmission methods can be roughly classified into two categories:one is point-to-point relay transmission, represented by "Post Office";Second, the transfer units at all levels are circulated in turn, represented by "Yixing".The most important element in transmission, the information content carried by physical media,is limited by the development of ancient media technology and the characteristics of writing media. Its main form is simple slips and documents, and its transmission can only be carried out by the national post system.Writing medium at that time was simple slip and supplemented by silk, that is,material material was the medium for information, corresponding measures were needed to ensure the security, confidentiality and authority of information and to ensure that information could reach the recipient on time, accurately and safely, that is,post law.
