| In 1517,Salim I,the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire,captured Cairo,marking that Egypt became an imperial province and an important part of it.This paper mainly investigates the economic development of Egypt under the Ottoman Empire,the construction of political and military systems,and the basic context of religious and social cultural life.On this basis,it further summarizes the way the Ottoman Empire governed Egypt,and finally makes an objective evaluation and summary.The introduction mainly introduces the research content and significance,research status at home and abroad,research methods,innovations and deficiencies.The text is divided into four parts.The first part mainly introduces that the Ottoman Empire implemented a high degree of autonomy management system with Mamluk restraint as the core.On the basis of retaining the original ruling structure,Pasha(Governor)was appointed to exercise proxy rule over Egypt,forming a co-governance model between the Ottoman sultan’ s agent and Egypt’ s traditional Mamluk,so that Egypt remained relatively independent and autonomous.The second part mainly introduces that the Ottoman Empire used the traditional economic model with the tax system as the core to govern the Egyptian economy.The tax system was widely implemented on the basis of state-owned land.The abundant surplus of agricultural products under this system drove the development of Egypt’ s foreign trade.However,the exorbitant taxes under the tax system led to the abnormal development of Egypt’ s handicraft industry and commerce.The third part mainly introduces the Ottoman Empire’ s religious governance of Egypt is to implement the religious tolerance policy of coexistence of multiple religions led by Islam,and expounds the role and development of Ulama,a religious scholar of traditional Islamic forces,and Azhar,a religious institution,as well as the survival and development of religious minorities represented by Sufi,Coptic Christians and Jews.The fourth part mainly introduces the social governance and cultural governance of the Ottoman Empire to Egypt.Social governance is embodied in public safety,health,services and medical treatment,philanthropy,leisure and entertainment,etc;Cultural governance is embodied in the formation of elite culture,mass culture and the creation of architectural art.The conclusion part is an exploratory summary,analysis and evaluation of the Egyptian governance of the Ottoman Empire,mainly analyzing the economic,political and external causes of the Ottoman Empire’ s conquest of Egypt,and then understanding the positive and negative effects of the Ottoman Empire’ s governance on the historical development of Egypt. |
