Research On The Critical Implications Of Modernity Of Marcuse’s Utopian Thought

As one of the important representatives of the Frankfurt School,Herbert Marcuse devoted his life to revealing and criticizing the general repression of human beings in the developed capitalist society,and searching for ways to achieve human freedom and liberation.He believes that in the context of the new era,Marxism is in crisis,the traditional violent revolution cannot be realized,and the path of Utopian liberation m ust be taken with the nature of non-violent resistance.Therefore,Marcuse combined Utopian thought with social critical theory,and strove to find a new path for the realization of human freedom and all-round development.This paper takes the modernity critical implications of Marcuse’s Utopian thought as the research object.Read Marcuse’s representative works carefully and sort out the forming background,theoretical origin and formation process of Marcuse’s Utopian thought systematically.And analyze the connotation and realization path of modernity criticism under his Utopian thought.Then analyze the significance and limitations of his thought.Finally,analyze its positive impacts on the social development of contemporary China.This paper mainly includes the following five parts:First,analyze the criticism of modernity from the perspective of Utopia.Through the analysis of "Utopia" and the combing of the basic theoretical logic of modernity critique,the dialectical relationship between modernity critique and Utopian thought is discussed.Second,re-examine the formation process of Marcuse’s Utopian thought.Systematically analyze the formation background and development context of his thought,and prepare for further research.Thirdly,focus on analyzing the critical implication of modernity in Marcuse’s Utopian thought,including the critical theme of one-dimensional man and society,as well as the three critical fields of politics,culture and discourse.Fourth,explore the realization path of criticism of the modernity of Marcuse’ Utopian thought,study the social change strategy "Great Rejection" and the theory of Erosliberation,and further analyze the possibility,realization and limitations of Erosliberation.Fifth,combine the modernity critical implications of Marcuse’s Utopian thought,analyze its theoretical and practical significance,and finally point out the limitations of this thought.Marcuse devoted his whole life to the research and realization of human freedom and liberation theory.With infinite yearning for a better future,he organically combined Marxism with Utopian thought,trying to put forward a kind of Marxism in line with the development law of The Times,with humanistic color.Although this idea is considered as a "romantic enterprise doomed to failure",Marcuse’s critical spirit of constant vigilance,innovative and enterprising spirit of inquiry and ideal society are worth 1 earning from.
