Harold Bloom is an influential literary theorist and critic in the world of contemporary American literature.He is popular in Western academic circles with his unique theoretical perspective and novel and distinctive critical approach.Bloom has written a number of books and more than 50 monographs during his life.His literary theory and critical practice are not only innovative and unique,but they also have great theoretical attractiveness and literary vitality since they are constantly updated and changed with the passage of time and the needs of literary development.Although Bloom did not explicitly propose a systematic and specific theory of creative reading,the concept has always run through his entire literary thoughts and has become a main stream for him in developing literary theory and conducting literary criticism.Moreover,in contemporary Western literary theory,Bloom’s view of creative reading also presents a unique theoretical value and literary style.Based on the main clue of creative reading,this study has selected "Bloom’s creative reading" as the research topic,and uses longitudinal analysis and horizontal comparison to expand Bloom’s influence theory,misreading theory,and literature canon theory,as well as explore the inner logic and theoretical significance of creative reading.This study focuses on three core issues:"why to carry out creative reading","how to do creative reading" and "what is the objective of creative reading".On this basis.I will analyze and explain Bloom’s creative reading in terms of internal logic,practical abilities,perfection.The details are as follows:The first chapter discusses the concept and origins of creative reading.It is concluded that creative reading refers to autonomous reading by combining the "reader-centered" critical paradigm with the creative reading trend of contemporary western reading theory,centered on Raymond Williams’ definition and interpretation of "creative" and "reading." Conscious reading subjects make full use of their creativity and genius to carry out productive,original,and innovative literary reading activities.This study elaborates on the creative trend and characteristics of contemporary Western literary reading theory from the three levels of reading essence,reading psychology,and reader type,and briefly summarizes Bloom’s literary reading theory and creative reading concept to lay the foundation for the following discussion.The second chapter expounds on the inner logic and motivation of creative reading,based on influence theory and misreading theory.Bloom’s creative reading is divided into three stages in this section:preparatory reading,devoted reading,and misreading.First of all,during the preparatory reading stage,it was determined that influence mainly provides internal stimulation for creative reading in the beginning by discussing and describing the dual qualities and dual orientations of the influence theory.Secondly,in the devoted reading stage,combined with the three sources of influence anxiety to explain what influence anxiety is and how readers should internalize the influence of poetry in the reading process in order to engage into creative reading.Finally,in the misreading stage,by explaining the misreading in concept and practice,the studies pointed out that the process of readers’ misreading is also the process of their creation,and that the core of creative reading is the internalization of old relationships and the construction of new relationships.The third chapter focuses on the analysis and interpretation of creative reading practice skills.Firstly,we introduce and explain six revisionary ratios.Research concluded that the revisionary ratios provide direction for how to get into creative reading.They then go on to explain the relationship between revisionary ratios and defense mechanisms,pointing out that defense mechanisms provide a psychological basis for revisionary ratios.Finally,the six figuras can be used to return the practical abilities of creative reading to their literary meaning.This section introduces and interprets the meaning,connotation,and relationship of six revisionary ratios,six defense mechanisms,and six figuras from the perspectives of imagery,psychology,and rhetoric,as well as provides readers with practical,conceptual,and operational creative reading practice skills.The fourth chapter is based on literary canon theory,and it focuses on the two critical questions of "what to read" and "why to read" in creative reading.On the one hand,to explain the impact of literary canon theory on creative reading.On the other hand,to analyze the basic rationale,specific manifestations,and theoretical implications of Bloom’s creative reading transition from professional reader to ordinary reader in the later period.It is emphasized that in the Bloom’s literary criticism theory,literary aesthetics is his "coat" of theory,elite politics is his subconscious,and the spirit of Gnosticism is his inner driving force.Through the clue of creative reading,Bloom naturally integrates aesthetic education,elite politics and Gnosticism to access the perfection and popularization of the creative reading.Finally,the conclusion summarizes the full thesis,and points out that the creative reading is a high-level generalization and summary of Bloom’s literary criticism theory,and it is also Bloom’s strategic thinking and layout of the entire literary activities.And summarizing the three major characteristics of Bloom’s creative reading.First,creative reading is a dynamic and continuous evolution of open-type theory.Second,relationalism and pragmatism are at the essence of creative reading.Third,the creative reading concept is not only the core concept of Bloom’s literary reading theory,but also the true epitome of his literary criticism career.At the same time,it is emphasized that Bloom’s perspective on creative reading not only has significant literary theoretical relevance,but also serves as a source of inspiration and reference for people’s reading activities in contemporary society.
