A Study Of The Ancient And Modern Chinese Characters In Zihuibu

Wu Renchen’s Zihuibu(《字汇补》)was written in the 5th year of Kangxi(1666)in the Qing dynasty.The whole book follows the method of division of Zihui(《字汇》),which is divided into twelve volumes and two hundred and forty-one volumes.Each volume is named in the order from Zi to Hai.Each part is further divided into three parts:like supplementary words、pronunciation and correction,and the words are arranged according to strokes.The characters are arranged according to the strokes.A total of 18,655 initial book,involving the ancient and modern word material 1288.This paper is a monographic study of the ancient and modern characters in Zihuibu,that is,taking the materials of the ancient and modern characters in Zihuibu as the object of study,and analyzing the ancient and modern characters by means of textual research.The introduction mainly introduces Wu Renchen’s life and the general situation of Zihuibu,the reason of the topic selection and the research significance,the research status,the difficulties and methods of the research,etc..The body is divided into three chapters:the first chapter is the survey of the materials of the ancient and modern characters in Zihuibu.This paper sums up nine kinds of terms of identifying ancient and modern characters in Zihuibu,among which "A,ancient Chinese character B" is the most numerous,"A、B,ancient and modern Chinese character" is the least.The second chapter is an analysis of the configuration of ancient and modern Chinese characters in Zihuibu.From the perspective of the relationship between ancient and modern Chinese characters,most ancient and modern Chinese characters are allochthonous,therefore,this paper analyzes these materials from two aspects:the isomerism character and the isomerism writing.The third chapter discusses the origin of "ancient character" in the standard of Shuowen(《说文》)and whether the form of "ancient character" is found in Shuowen.It is found that most of these "ancient characters" come from,or come from character books,rhyme books,stone inscriptions,literature and classics,etc..The fourth chapter discusses the value of the study of ancient and modern Chinese characters in Zihuibu and the compilation of modern large-scale dictionaries from the two aspects:the errors of the large-scale dictionaries and the losses of the large-scale dictionaries.Finally is the conclusion,carries on the explanation to the relevant conclusions,innovation and deficiencies.This paper provides materials for the dating research of ancient and modern characters through the study of ancient and modern characters in Zihuibu,which is helpful for the study of the academic history of ancient and modern characters.The textual research on the ancient characters in Zihuibu can be used to proofread each other’s errors and provide reference for the compilation of modern large-scale dictionaries.
