The paper is based on the preface and the first three chapters from the book China’s Belt and Road Initiative:Connecting Countries Saving Millions of Lives written by Andre Vltchek.The paper is divided into four parts.The first part is the description of translation process,including the background of the author,the outline of the source text and the significance of exposing western lies to improve national confidence.The second part is the translation process,including the contents that by reading the author’s books such as Fighting against Western Terrorism and On Western Terrorism to know the expression feature,writing style and preference of the author.Besides,some references and books related to the Belt and Road Initiative and history and culture of Southeast Asia are applied to enrich the expressions and contents of the paper.In terms of translation theory and strategy,under the guidance of skopos theory,the skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule are taken as the translation standard.The domestication and foreignization translation strategies and translation methods such as literal translation and free translation are flexibly used to ensure the faithfulness,smoothness and nativeness of the translation text.As for the translation aids,the ABBY Fine Reader,Goldendict,Note Express,COCA are used respectively to tackle translation problems,including format conversion,reference of difficult words,literature management as well as parallel text expression.The third part is case analysis,which is analyzed from three dimensions,including vocabulary,syntax and discourse.There are many abundant and representative linguistic phenomena such as loan words and rhetorical words which worth to be studied.The syntax aspect includes passive,parallel,attributive and nominal clauses.The conveyed emotional significance are studied from the aspect of discourse tone and discourse context.The fourth part is translation summary,including the lessons and inspirations gained in the translation process.It is still not enough to become a qualified translator.Besides,native land emotion,craftsman spirit,international vision and critical spirit are also invaluable qualities to be cultivated.Through the translation practice,it is not only of great benefit to expand related background knowledge,including Belt and Road Initiative as well as the culture of Southeast Asia,but also improve the ability of translation skills and cross-cultural communication.By comparing the aid from China with the destroy from the West,readers can recognize the hypocrisy of the West and feel the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative from the perspective of western scholars,which is helpful to improve culture confidence,broaden the international vision,enhance awareness of big picture,as well as arouse the enthusiasm for the construction of the motherland.
