| The book Learning Innovation and the Future of Higher Education,published in 2020,explores the reform of higher education in the United States.The original text of this translation practice is excerpted from the third chapter of the book,Reclaiming Innovation from Disruption,which proves that disruptive innovation theory cannot serve as a guide to leading learning innovation and revolutionizing postsecondary education.It reviews the history of educational technology,and explains the reasons for innovation and the nature of learning innovation.Based on this book,educators in China who are concerned about higher education can make a comparison between Chinese and American postsecondary institutions to have a picture of the future of higher education and promote the development of China’s higher education.This translation practice report consists of four parts:The first part is the description of the translation task,including the introduction of the original text,the introduction of its authors,and the purpose for translating the book.The second part is the description of the translation process,including the preparation for translation,the selection of translation methods,the difficulties in the process and the post-translation modification.The third part is the case analysis,in which the source language text is analyzed from the perspectives of vocabulary,syntax,discourse and rhetoric,and translated into the target language text with the methods of literal translation,free translation and transliteration to achieve transformation of meanings;The fourth part is a summary of the translation practice,which includes a review of the process and lessons from the translation practice.This practice report explores the translation methods of exposition style from various aspects,focusing on how to identify cohesive devices in exposition style for the semantics and the logic of the text.It can be further used in exposition style translation to identify grammatical cohesive devices and lexical cohesive devices in the original text for the clear logic,and select appropriate cohesive devices according to the characteristics of the target language to achieve meaning interpretation. |
