A Study On The Relationship Of Tongxun Words’ Meanings Of The Group "Bing" And "Tong" In Shuowenjiezi

Tongxun is an exegetical phenomenon in Xu Shen’s Shuowenjiezi.The words connected with the precepts actually constituted the semantic field during the pre-Qin and Han dynastiesand.The analysis of the phenomenon by means of semanteme analysis in western linguistics can well grasp the part of the difference of meaning value neglected in the phenomenon.Based on ancient characters,ancient classics,ancient character books and modern dictionaries,this paper studies the meaning and cultural context of the Tongxun words in Shuowenjiezi,which are explained as "Bing" or "Tong".In order to better construct the semantic field with disease and pain as the core sememe,this paper also included the words interpreted as "Bing X"," X bing","Tong X" and "X tong" into the semantic analysis.In the third part of this paper,through semanteme analysis,we have found that the sememes of the exegetical words in the book are different to some extent.After analyzing the semanteme of two groups of words with the same way,the sub-semantic fields with the sememe of "Bing" and "Tong" as the common sememe are constructed,and the sub-semantic fields are associated with each other.Through the discussion of the close relationship between the words "Bing"and "Tong" and the words being explained by “worry" and "sadness",it is found that Xu Shen’s understanding of "Bing" and "Tong" embodies the idea of traditional Chinese medicine.
