| English reading is not only one of the primary English language skills,but also the main means of information input.In addition,the "English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education"(2011)puts forward requirements for the reading ability of primary school students.Low-grade primary school students can understand new words and sentences with the help of pictures and can read simple stories.Therefore,it is very important to cultivate English reading ability of low-grade primary school students.However,some problems are founded among students,such as slow reading speed,poor comprehension ability,weak reading willpower and few amount of extracurricular reading.English picture books have been very popular in recent years because of vivid pictures and rhythmic stories,which are the best choice for children language learning.As mobile technology and social media spread widely,the Internet has become a learning platform with large educational resources,providing for students.Thus,this research mainly adopts the experimental method,supplemented by the questionnaire method and interview method.It uses two research questions as the research benchmark:(1)Can Blended English picture books reading activity effectively stimulate the reading interest and motivation of low-grade primary school students?(2)Can Blended English picture books reading activity effectively train English reading strategies and improve English reading ability of low-grade primary school students?To prove that blended English picture books reading activity can promote low-grade primary school students’ reading ability and learning interest.In this study,104 students in two parallel classes in third grade of a primary school were selected to conduct this experiment.Blended English picture books were used to teach in the experimental class but the control class.The experimental results show that Blended English picture books reading activity can improve pupils’ reading ability and stimulate pupils’ interest in English learning.Therefore,it is necessary for Blended English picture books to be used in English teaching to enrich English extracurricular teaching resources and improve students’ English reading ability.However,due to experimental time,experimental monitoring and other reasons,the research needs to be further verified and discussed. |
