| This is a report on a project of translating from English to Chinese excerpts from Financing an Inclusive Circular Economy, which is a research paper co-authored by Patrick Schr(?)der and Jan Raes, and published on the official website of Chatham House,a British think tank,on July 16,2021.The excerpts selected for the project discuss issues related to the establishment and improvement of an effective financial support system for circular economy through various policies, with a view to further reducing financing risks. The source text should be of interest to China’s policy-makers and professionals who are concerned with building a financial system for circular economy.According to Reiss’ s text type theory, the source text is an informative one.The translator employed the strategy of using “plain prose, with explicitation as required”to represent objects and facts, and focus on reader’s response. To ensure the reading experience of the target audience, the translator used such translation techniques as addition, division, conversion, and voice change, and paid special attention to grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion,so as to make the translation smooth and clear at lexical, syntactic, and contextual levels, and reduce readers’ reading barriers as much as possible. |
