At the centennial of the Communist Party of China,I directed and took part in the acting of the red classical drama Wild Fire and Spring Breeze Fighting the Ancient City on the stage of the Performance Hall of Henan University as my master’s Graduation Concert, which,I hope, can be a celebration of the100 th birthday of the party, hold a memorial ceremony for Party member ancestors’ self fighting and sacrificing so as to inspire more people to impart and inherit their revolutionary spirit. In the process,I succeeded in shaping the positive character Yangxiaodong,an outstanding member, who is optimistic, enthusiastic, resourceful and courageous, and the negative character Gaoziping,a traitor in the party, who is also greedy and cares for nothing but saving his skin. Finally he surrenders to the enemy. When I have done all the performing,my understanding about maintaining the progressiveness of Party members got a deeper level.Due to the large number of characters in the play and their totally different characteristic,I did the second creation based on the original play and performed both two main characters the positive Yangxiaodong and negative Gaoziping so as to better interpret the meaning of the play.In this paper,I analyzed how male actors perform two totally different characters in the aspects of dealing with lines, singing, facial expression, acting design and so on basing on my mature stage performance ability. This paper will shows my summary of my post-graduated study combined with the reflection on various problems in the rehearsal process of the whole play, which I hope can provide reference for others about how to deal with one actor performing two characters.
