National image is a part of soft power,a manifestation of comprehensive strength,and a means of gaming national interests.With the improvement of China’s comprehensive national strength and international status,the international community’s attention to China has also increased.However,foreign media coverage of China is sometimes biased due to cultural differences and cognitive biases.Negative public opinions such as "China Threat Theory" and "China Collapse Theory" are emerging one after another,and China’s national image is facing challenges.Against this background,how to shape and enhance a good Chinese national image and correct the cognitive prejudice against China in the international community is the most urgent and challenging task for China today.As important members of ASEAN,China and Cambodia have a profound historical friendship.As a bridge connecting China-Cambodia cooperation and exchanges,Cambodian students are an important research object in international Chinese language education and the international dissemination of China’s national image.This paper selects Cambodian international students from Guangxi University as the research object,adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods,and examines the presentation of China’s image in the eyes of "others" from the perspective of international students’ cognition.Research shows that Cambodian students generally have a good understanding of China’s overall image,and China’s economic image has the highest score.There is also a strong correlation between the study subjects’ experience of studying abroad and their Chinese image cognition.The perception of Chinese image will be affected by the learners themselves and the external environment.At the same time,improving the Chinese learning experience of international students will help to build China’s national image.Put forward targeted suggestions for Chinese language teaching for Cambodian teenagers and the promotion of China’s image.
