| Critical Reflection and the Foreign Language Classroom is an educational masterpiece that combines classroom education with social culture.In the fourth and fifth chapters of the book,Terry A.Osborn,the author of Critical Reflection and the Foreign Language Classroom,analyzed the possibilities for reform in education and examined the process of critical reflection.The book was published in 2000,but there has not a Chinese version.It indicates that the translation study of educational books has not received sufficient attention in China.So the author takes the two chapters as the translation materials.According to Newmark’s theory of text typology,the source text is an informative text.And there are a large number of long sentences with complex structures in this text,which contains a huge amount of information.It causes great difficulties in understanding and translating.Although the Chinese scholars in the translation field have used various translation theories to study the E-C translation of long sentences in various texts for many years,a few pay attention to communication.In view of the important role of long sentence translation in communication,the report will be guided by Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory.And the author will focus on the feelings of the target readers,and use three specific and feasible translation methods to analyze long English sentences in the text.It is beneficial to solve the translation difficulties caused by the original English sentences,especially in translation that may cause reading or comprehension difficulties for target readers.To be precise,on the guidance of Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory,which emphasizes the communicative effect of translation,the author chooses Mr.Zhang Peiji’s three translation methods: reverse translation,splitting and synthesis.It is benefical to improve the fluency and readability of the translation,thereby achieving a better communicative effect.The above methods are adopted to increase the acceptability of the translation and facilitate intercultural communication.Additionally,it enhances the ability of author’s understanding and application for communicative translation theory,and improves the translator’s ability to contact theory with practice. |
