English Curriculum for Compulsory Education(2011 edition)definite shows that in the nine-level target system,the third-level target as the basic requirement that should be achieved after the seventh grade.And English writing is a particularly important language skill.According to the requirements of curriculum standards,students should show enthusiasm and initial confidence in English learning.Students can depict numerous drawings and compose easy stories with English phrases or sentences.In English teaching,the writer discovered that students’ English writing ability is not high in junior middle schools.Here are two mainly respects: in one respect,students’ reading resources are single and vocabulary reserves are insufficient.It is difficult for them to meet the needs of writing;on another aspect,textbooks are not interesting enough,so students are short of interest and self-confidence in English writing.However,it is not easy for students to improve English writing ability in junior middle school.They need rich vocabularies and repeated writing training to improve it.Therefore,it is valuable to study that how to use picture books effectively to improve English writing ability.This study wants to explore these issues: 1.Can the integration of picture book reading and textbooks improve students’ interest and confidence in English writing? 2.Can the integration of picture book reading and textbooks improve the English writing ability?3.How to integrate picture book reading with textbooks to improve the English writing ability of first grade students?The author conducted a ten-week teaching research,according to “ the 13 th Five-Year ” Project of China English Reading Academy--Teaching research on the integration of picture book reading teaching and main textbook;according to Krashen’s Input Hypothesis and Affective Filter Hypothesis;taking the students of two classes in a middle school as the research object.SPSS 21.0 is used to analyze the data of two questionnaires,interviews and written texts before and after the study.The results show that: 1.The integration of picture book reading and textbooks can improve students’ interest and confidence in English writing.2.The integration of picture book reading and textbooks can improve the English writing ability of first grade students in junior middle school.3.The research finds that teachers can improve students’ English writing ability by selecting picture book resources scientifically and integrating with textbooks.And the author summarized the following selection strategies: 1.Picture books should be closely combined with and effectively supply to the topics of textbooks;2.Picture books should match and expand the core vocabularies and sentence patterns of textbooks;3.The content of pictures books should be closer to students’ lives.The author summarized some practical English teaching methods during the process of teaching practice.At the same time,it is hoped that more English teachers can participate in the study.They can adjust and optimize the teaching study through more teaching cases.
