| This report selects the first chapter of the educational research text Discourse Analysis for Language Teachers as the translation material.In the process of translation,the author finds that long sentences account for a large proportion in the source text,so the translation of long sentences would directly affect the whole translation.And whether the long sentences could be translated with high quality is naturally one of the most critical factors that affects the communicative effect of the translation.Based on this fact,the translation of long sentences in the translation material is the focus of this report.Communicative translation strategy is reader-centered,emphasizing the reader’s feelings and respecting the grammatical rules of the target language.This theory can not only meet the translation requirements of long sentences in the source text,but also achieve a favorable communicative effect.Thus the author takes communicative translation strategy as the principal guiding theory of this translation practice.Based on the analysis of the source text,the author adopts five translation methods to translate English long sentences in the source text,including embedding,reversing,cutting,splitting-off and recasting.Through this translation practice,the author finds that it is feasible to adopt communicative translation strategy to guide the translation of educational research text.Especially,it plays an important role in translating long sentences in educational research text.Applying communicative translation strategy to translating long sentences in the text can not only retain the accuracy of information,but also improve the readability of the translation,so as to improve readers’ acceptance of the translation and better realize communicative effect.Moreover,in light of communicative translation strategy,by analyzing the features of long sentences in the source text,the author specifically studies the application of the five translation methods in different long sentences in the source text and their positive effects in translation.The translation process and the positive effects of adopting communicative translation strategy also prove the feasibility of applying communicative translation strategy to translating long sentences in educational research text.This report consists of six chapters.Chapter One briefly introduces the source text and discusses the background and significance of this translation practice.Chapter Two introduces the process of this translation practice.Chapter Three studies communicative translation strategy and analyzes the feasibility of adopting communicative translation strategy in translating the source text.Chapter Four introduces the features of educational research text,and analyzes the features and translation principles of long sentences in the source text.Chapter Five is the case analysis.In this chapter,in light of communicative translation strategy,the author studies the application of the five translation methods in translating long sentences in the source text.Chapter Six is the summary of this translation practice. |
