With the rapid development of globalization,a Community of Shared Future for Mankind has gradually won great popular support.Communication between countries is becoming more and more frequent.The successful hosting of the Beijing 2022 Winter Games has highlighted the strengthening of international connection.In the context of the "global village" era,Education for International Understanding(EIU)has been given a new significance of the times.It is necessary to learn a foreign language and tell the Chinese story well to the world.As one of the Development of Core Competence of Chinese Students,Education for International Understanding is compatible with the Nine-year Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards(2011).It is feasible to infiltrate EIU in English teaching.However,at present,influenced by National College Entrance Examination,foreign language learning is utilitarian.The main task of students is to remember a large number of basic English knowledge,and the humanistic nature of English learning has been ignored.The scattered English learning and fragmented teaching make the concept of EIU has not been well implemented.This study mainly discusses the following questions:(1)what are the differences in the quantity distribution and presentation mode of EIU content reflected in the two sets of textbooks?(2)How is the attitude of implied the two sets of textbooks?(3)In English teaching,how do teachers think about the EIU reflected in the teaching materials?Based on the above research,it is found that the New Standard English and Yilin Junior English Textbooks are common in distribution,presentation of theme content and the attitude tendency of related content in the EIU.But there are also some differences.The theme content is widely distributed,involved the culture of China and other countries,which can broden students’ horizen.Yilin Junior English is closer to life and extended.New Standard English are more focused on the article itself,and attach importance to the practice of grammar knowledge;In terms of attitude tendency,the two sets of textbooks basically imply a positive attitude towards the EIU;Among the three ways of afftect,appreciation and judgment,appreciation words are the most obvious.Through interviews with teachers,it is found that teachers still mainly pay attention to the accumulation of basic vocabulary knowledge in the actual teaching process,and do not pay much attention to the cultivation of students’ international understanding awareness.After the comparative study of the books,it has some enlightenment for teachers and textbook compilation.First,the contents of teaching materials should be appropriately related to international issues.Second,teachers should adjust the content of the books and integrate teaching resources according to the teaching situation.
