This article mainly divides the body image in Francesco Clemente’s paintings into three important development stages in chronological order, and discusses them one by one to explore the characteristics and specific meaning of the body image in each period. The article first explained the reasons why Clemente chose the body as the primary motif for his artistic creation, which is closely related to the changes in his early life experience and social environment.Secondly, the article analyzes in detail the changes in Clemente’s works in the three periods of initial, transition and maturity of the body image. The first period is aimed at the body in the practical sense, starting from the self-portrait,that is,the male identity, then the transformation of the female body image, and finally combined with the relationship between the sexes, discussing the actual identity in the body image from 1971 to 1989.Refactored expression. The second period is from around 1990 to the beginning of 2000.The sense of boundary constructed from the entry and exit of the body and the public space. These two aspects introduce the body in the abstract sense, and there is no lack of expression methods. The third period describes the characteristics and formation process of body schema and symbolization in Clement’s paintings from 2000 to the present. At the end, after the interpretation of the images in the works of relevant and representative Chinese and Western artists,I will compare and summarize the unique personal charm of Clemente in his paintings, and emphasize the diversity of body images in historical artistic expression. Finally, combined with my life experience,I specifically analyze how I drew inspiration and experience from Francesco Clemente’s works in my own artistic creation, and then explored and perfected my own creative path to improve awareness of self, life and contemporary art.
