| In today’s increasingly frequent multicultural exchanges, the phenomenon of mixing Chinese and English fonts has gradually become a concern along with the mutual collision and intervention of national cultures, and bilingual typography has become a common professional pursuit. The coexistence of Chinese and English fonts is a common phenomenon in modern design,,but due to the different development trends and writing systems, there are still certain differences between Chinese and English characters in terms of aesthetics and font design. At present, the adaptability design for Chinese and English fonts is more in one language, and the other language is only conveyed as a way of marking,or even forcibly transplanting the original character information plus the fonts common in other countries for dissemination, resulting in the adaptation of Chinese and English fonts become more and more stenciled and homogenized, and the resulting design will look dull and clumsy, lacking innovation,so the use of suitable Chinese and English fonts in many scenes Therefore,it is especially important to use suitable Chinese and English fonts in many scenes. The adaptation design of Chinese and English fonts should not just stay on the basis of "functionalism",focusing only on their distinguishing and recognition, but neglecting their readability and the fit of their content. The core of the theory of visual perception is to analyze human visual preferences from the observation of visual perception phenomena, and to investigate the interaction between eye movements and human brain. The first chapter of the thesis is a literature review. The history of Chinese and English typeface adaptation research is relatively rich, and the first chapter of the thesis discusses the current status of domestic and foreign research, the purpose and significance of the research, and the research methods. The second chapter discusses Gestalt completion psychology and its development theory of visual perception concept and the design concept of Chinese and English font adaptation, and tries to use the completion theory to understand and explain the problem of Chinese and English font adaptation design and to make a proper and reasonable explanation of its development history.Chapter 3 is to summarize the problems and causes of Chinese and English fonts, and this chapter mainly discusses five points from three aspects: Chinese and English font design behavior itself, designers and communication media. There are homogenization and templatization, disconnection between form and content, cultural differences between Chinese and English font design, lack of responsibility of designers, and complexity and diversity of media, which all lead to the discomfort of Chinese and English font design.Chapter 4 analyzes the readers’ preferences for the adaptation of Chinese and English fonts, and further discusses the combination of the theory of visual perceptual perfection and the adaptation of Chinese and English fonts based on the discussion in Chapter 2.Based on the discussion in Chapter 2,we further discuss the integration of the theory of visual perceptual perfection with the adaptation of Chinese and English fonts, and demonstrate the introduction of "perfection tendency","balance principle" and "simplification principle" into the design of Chinese and English fonts from the theory of visual perception. In the end,we use design practice to illustrate how to use perfection theory to improve the adaptability of Chinese and English fonts. And finally,we will use the theory of visual perception to make the different forms of Chinese and English fonts balanced, and improve the adaptability of Chinese and English fonts through visual form communication,so that they can better carry the information and cultural communication. |
