As a completely new interdisciplinary pragmatics research topic,linguistic landscape research offers an interdisciplinary exploring approach to the study of diversity in language use.Since its inception,the concept of linguistic landscape has received the attention of many experts and scholars in different fields and has produced meaningful results.Traditionally,linguistic landscape has focused on the phenomenon and use of language in the physical space of cities and the social and identity they represent.The in-depth development of globalization and urbanization and the arrival of the Internet and big data era have gradually made virtual linguistic landscape a new research topic in recent years.The extremely rapid development of the Internet and big data has led to the development of Internet business.As a combination of business and the Internet,Internet business websites play an important role in promoting economic development,building brand images and fostering social progress.An in-depth study of the linguistic landscape of Internet business websites has important theoretical and practical research significance.The study selects corpus from populous Internet business official websites in Chinese and in English,located at home and abroad,as the research objects.Borrowing from the concept of linguistic landscape and applying the relevant theories and research framework of pragmatics,it adopts the method of qualitative research to study the linguistic landscape of the selected websites from following aspects: the general phenomenon of the language use of the populous Chinese and foreign Internet business websites,the characteristics of language use of Chinese and foreign Internet business websites,the possible problems in language use on the websites and the suggestions for addressing the problems.The study has found that:(1)The regulations and theories of pragmatics are still applicable in the study of the pragmatic phenomena of Internet business language,and can help the study of the linguistic landscape to discover many phenomena of pragmatics.(2)Although,on the whole,the use of linguistic symbols on the web pages of the websites achieves the situated effect well,and there are also some inappropriate use cases and effects of language signs,i.e.some linguistic irregularities.The study presents examples and analyzes the irregularities at three levels: lexical,syntactic and discourse,holding that the possible causes of language irregularities lie in the macro,micro and other aspects.(3)Compared with the physical environment,the environment of Internet is more complex and its reading context is richer and more varied,so the possibility of ambiguity in Internet language is greater,and thus the phenomenon of language irregularity is more likely to appear.Based on the reasons above,the thesis makes positive and effective suggestions,putting forward six standardization principles and four standardization methods.(4)As the context,there are obvious differences of Chinese and foreign Internet business websites in terms of background color settings,column section settings,and the promotional thrust of products and events.Obviously,the reasons for the different linguistic characteristics of Chinese and foreign Internet business websites are the influence of distinctive ways of thinking and values,in addition to cultural differences.(5)The thesis also finds that there is a relatively large proportion of monolingual(Chinese,English)and bilingual(Chinese--English/English--Chinese)language codes,which reflects the awareness of Internet business websites to adapt to the international business context and language environment.The research in the thesis is conducive to broadening the scope of linguistic landscape research on Internet pragmatics,innovating the level of linguistic landscape research in language use and enriching the research content of dynamic language use,and promoting the development of the theory and practice of linguistic landscape research,thus serving the construction and development of linguistic landscapes better to contribute to the formulation of more effective language policies and to establish and promote the formation of core socialist values in people(netizens)and bring about the progress of material and spiritual civilization in society.
