| Jingxin Temple is located in Jinzhong City,Shanxi Province.It was built in the first year of Kaiyuan in the Tang Dynasty(AD 714).After many renovations,it still retains 34 murals of Buddhist legends,51 groups of portraits of water and land gods,and many gods and Buddhas.The statue is a large folk temple integrating Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism.The Buddhist murals painted on the four walls of the Three Buddha Hall in the temple describe the life story of Sakyamuni from birth to Nirvana,occupying four walls in total.The murals are rich in details,simple in shape and elegant in color.The clothing,furniture,utensils,etc.in the picture fully integrate the characteristics of the era at that time,and draw many elements from the life of the common people to enrich the details of the image,which reflects the folk beliefs and life style of the Ming Dynasty in a concentrated and detailed manner.Therefore,to study the Buddhist stories of Jingxin Temple is of great significance for us to further understand the folk life in Jinzhong area of Ming Dynasty.Based on the field investigation data of Jingxin Temple,combined with the relevant literature of Buddhist murals in Ming Dynasty,this paper sorts out and compares the murals of Buddhist paintings from the perspectives of vertical time and horizontal space.And the modeling characteristics are summarized and analyzed,the characteristics of the times and regional characteristics of the Buddhist murals in Jingxin Temple are summarized,and the images of Buddhist murals are systematically interpreted in combination with relevant Buddhist classics,and then the development process of Buddhist murals in Jinzhong area during the Ming Dynasty is discussed.Religious beliefs,artistic styles,local cultural inheritance and exchanges and other related issues involved in the study.The first part of this article is the analysis of the age of the murals.The author firstly sorts out the 32 stone steles in the stele gallery,collects the information of Danqing in the inscriptions,and infers the age of the murals through image analysis and comparison.The three aspects of plot splitting and theme supplementation are explored to improve the narrative content of the entire mural.The second part analyzes the artistic features such as the color,composition,and shape of the murals.By comparing with the stylized Buddhist images,it explores the social information hidden behind the images.In the third part,the Buddhist images of Jingxin Temple are placed in the social environment of the Ming Dynasty to investigate,so as to reveal the reasons for the formation of the characteristics of the images of Buddhist stories of Jingxin Temple.Through the study of the Buddhist murals in Jingxin Temple,the author concludes that: 1.After sorting out the information and images of the inscriptions on the tablet,it is speculated that the painting time of the Buddhist murals in the Three Buddha Hall of Jingxin Temple should be the 45 th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty.2.The murals of Jingxin Temple are mainly composed of ink and wash rocks,and the meticulous figures run through the rocks;the composition and spatial layout ingeniously reflect the doctrine of Buddhist causality;in addition to dividing the picture,the landscape also realizes the unity of rigidity and softness;it is subject to the ritual system Influenced by the system,the costumes of the characters are elegant,mostly gray and white.In addition,the Buddhist images of Jingxin Temple are closer to real life in terms of statues,and due to the influence of Confucianism,there are stories about monarchs,ministers,fathers and sons,which are relatively rare among the themes of Buddhist murals.3.Social factors such as the martial fashion in Jinzhong area,the cultural needs of the citizens,the role of religion in educating people’s hearts,and the government’s attitude towards Buddhism all have a corresponding impact on the formation of Buddhist images. |
