| The source text of this translation project is excerpted from The Handbook of Banking Technology, which mainly introduces new banking models and the technology used in modern banks, and analyses the corresponding opportunities and risks. The translation of this book could be useful for readers to understand the development of banking technology and the changes of the banking industry in the digital era.In the process of translation, guided by the functionalist skopos theory and based on the linguistic features of the source text, the translator analyses the difficulties in translation and summarizes the translation methods and technique adopted. The translator finds that, belonging to financial texts, the source text is characterized by the abundant use of financial terms and polysemic words as well as the frequent use of complex sentences, all of which become obstacles to understanding and translating. Moreover, the target text recipients of this translation project are those without professional backgrounds.Based on this, under the guidance of the skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule of the skopos theory, the translator mainly adopts transliteration, deduction, amplification, cutting, embedding, inversion and recasting to deliver accurate, coherent and readable translation.Through this translation practice, the translator hopes to acquire relevant knowledge of banking technology and sum up the difficulties and translation methods and techniques in financial translation. At the same time, she also hopes that this translation project can become a reference for English-Chinese translation of financial texts. |
