| Freud published On The Mysterious and Frightening Things in 1919,in which he interpreted a series of things that could trigger the sense of mystery and fear from the perspective of psychoanalysis,tried to sum up the general rules of the occurrence of fear,and made an important effort to conceptualize "fear".But at the beginning of the paper published in did not cause enough attention,until the 1970 s,critics and theorists began to gradually noticed that Freud’s discussion of mystery and fear "on the mysterious" are also as part of the achievements of Freud’s literary criticism provide theoretical support for various types of literature analysis,reveals the unique aesthetic value.Compared with the abundant foreign research achievements,the domestic "On mysterious and Frightening Things" has not attracted enough attention,and Freud’s theory about fear has never been the focus of Freud’s theoretical system.This paper aims to understand the importance of this article in the theoretical system of psychoanalysis,with a close reading of the text as the main research method,from three angles to understand the theoretical value and aesthetic value of "On the Mysterious and horrible Things".First of all,pay attention to Freud’s specific analysis practice in the paper,and find the key points he wants to express from his analysis of etymology,predecessors’ discussion on fear,analysis of literary works and interpretation of personal experience:This chapter aims to extract the key concepts discussed by Freud through the re-reading of the text,so as to provide a basis for the macro-perspective analysis of fear theory in the following chapters.The second chapter combines the main concepts summarized in the first chapter with fear,and puts the relatively isolated fear theory into the theoretical system of Freudian psychoanalysis.In addition to discussing the influence of existing theories on the theory of mystery and fear,we also consider the problem from the perspective of development,and observe whether traces of Freud’s late theory can be found in the theory of fear,so as to prove the importance of mysterious fear as a theory.The last chapter returns to the direction of literary criticism to study the value of the theory of mystery and fear,and sees the influence of On Mystery,as an early critical work on mystery and fear,on the practice of literary theory criticism.Thinkers such as Heidegger and Lacan showed their interest in the theory of fear,and constantly endowed it with new connotations.Mystery and fear in development are also the focus of this paper.In addition,in the modern society where horror literature,horror film and other art forms are popular,Freud’s relevant theories are also applicable to the current forms of artistic expression,providing a new understanding and perspective for analyzing the horror effect in literature,film,music and painting. |
