The text selected for this translation practice report is the first chapter of the biography Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency written by American columnist Michael Wolff.This chapter introduces the various efforts made by Donald Trump and his team for his re-election before the US presidential election,including hiring professionals to help analyze how to get more votes and mock campaign speeches and other efforts.Taking the three principles of Skopos Theory as the guiding theory,this report analyzes them from three aspects.Firstly,the background,purpose and significance of this translation practice are introduced.Secondly,the specific content of the three principles of Skopos Theory is expounded and the applicability to biographical texts is analyzed.Thirdly,starting from the three aspects of words,sentences and discourse,and under the guidance of the three principles of Skopos Theory,the author chooses appropriate translation methods to analyze the case,so as to translate the source text accurately and make it easier for the target language readers to accept.Through this translation practice,the author draws the following conclusions:The three principles of Skopos Theory plays a key role in guiding the translation of biographical texts,and the quality of the translations under its guidance is significantly improved.In addition,the author has gained a relatively in-depth understanding of the three principles of Skopos Theory,made further research on the translation of biographical texts,and greatly improved the ability to combine theory with practice.
