With the deepening of globalization, the communication between countries in the world continues to grow in both frequency and intensity. As the world-wide medium of communication,English has gained more prominence in its advance. Many countries put English education in the core part of quality education as a strategy of developing their national basic education, and China is no exception.Since entering the 21 st century,China has accelerated the pace of internationalization, and the demand for English talents is increasing.English education has become an important part of the national education in China. The translation text,My Life with English: From Tsinghua University to Peking University,is the biography of Li Funing,a famous English educator and senior professor of Peking University. It tells the history of English education in China over the past century from the author’s perspective. The book is a biographical text. The main difficulties in translation are as follows: The book contains many culture-loaded words;there are many run-on sentences with loose structures;the logical connections between sentences are implicit. In view of these translation difficulties, this study takes the Skopos Theory as the guiding theory to explore appropriate solutions. The three basic rules of the Skopos Theory include Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule.Under the guidance of the three rules, the translator adopted different translation methods in the process of translation, including addition, omission, conversion, combination, division, paraphrase and in-text annotation, etc. The results show that Skopos Theory can be used to guide the translation of biographical texts, and effective translation methods can be chosen according to the translation purpose,so as to achieve the successful conversion of source text into target text.At the same time,it is hoped that this study can provide some reference for the translation of such texts in the future.
