A Practice Report On C-E Translation Of The User Manual Of A90 Series Inverter From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the deepening of economic globalization,the trade contacts between countries around the world become increasingly close,among which the trade of technology products occupies a dominant position in the market.In recent years,China’s technology products have gone out of the country and been sold overseas.To promote the further development of China’s technology products and foreign exchange,technical texts act as an important medium of communication,which has driven the vigorous development of the corresponding translation business of the product manual.Therefore,this translation practice report is of great significance.This translation practice report takes the Chinese-English translation text of the User Manual of A90 Series Inverter as the research corpus.Through analysis of the source text and the translation,the author categorizes the typical problems that arise in the translation process at the lexical,syntactic,and textual levels.Based on the typical problems that arise in the translation process,the author aims to propose feasible solutions using Skopos theory as a guide.Technical texts are characterized by a large number of terminologies at the lexical level,rigorous logic and objectivity at the syntactic level,and strong coherence at the textual level.From the perspective of Skopos theory,the post-translation language needs to follow the three main rules of Skopos theory: skopos,fidelity,and coherence.Therefore,translation methods such as using accurate terminology and concise nominalization structure are commonly adopted at the lexical level.Then translation methods such as the dividing and restructuring of long and complex sentences,and the use of passive voice can be adopted at the syntactic level.Moreover,translation methods of adding logical connectives and grammatical conversion are employed at the textual level.This study analyzes the problems that arise in the translation practice of technical texts and proposes corresponding solutions under the guidance of Skopos theory,aiming to accumulate translation experience and providing translation methods and references for translations in the field of technical texts.
