On C-E Translation Of Economic News Under Functional Equivalence Theory

China is the world’s second-largest economy and the largest developing country.China’s economic news reflects all aspects of its development which is a critical window to show itself to the world.The C-E translation of economic news plays an important role in conveying China’s voice to the world and makes the world know more about China.Due to the particularity of economic news style with a shorter text,more figures,more proper nouns,and more quotations,and less subjective emotion,the translation must be more accurate.Nida’s functional equivalence theory focuses on information transmission and readers’ reflection,which can effectively guide the translation of economic news.Therefore,the analysis of the C-E translation of economic news under the functional equivalence theory is significant.Based on the literature review on functional equivalence theory and the C-E translation of economic news,this paper analyses the C-E translation under functional equivalence theory.According to the principles and characteristics of economic news translation,and on the framework of functional equivalence theory,the English translation of the Chinese economic news of China Daily is analyzed from three aspects:lexical,syntactic and textual.The paper aims to summarize related law of economic news translation under functional equivalence theory,and provide a specific reference for the research on related economic news translation.
