| Brecht is a famous dramatist with innovation and pioneering spirit in the 20 th century.His drama theory and practice are revolutionary and have far-reaching influence in the history of drama.This paper tries to explain Brecht’s use of new dramatic techniques to create new dramatic forms from the perspective of “technology”.This form of drama breaks the shackles of Aristotelian traditional drama and realizes the dual functions of drama aesthetics and education.The details are as follows:First,the technical issues in Brecht’s drama theory.First of all,under the cruel rule of fascism and the rapid development of science and technology,the art of science is Brecht’s artistic choice made under the influence of political and scientific thinking.Secondly,under the influence of Kirsch,Brecht’s view of technology uses dialectics to understand the nature of the world and practice to transform society.Finally,the music of Chinese opera,narrative factors such as “self-reporting”,performance techniques and Li Yu’s concept of opera all have an impact on Brecht’s technical issues.Second,the technical composition of Brecht’s dramatic theory.In Brecht’s opinion,technology has the dual properties of material and spirit,including modern technology such as film,lighting and slide,as well as the internal form of dramatic creation,which is unified in the creation process of drama.The composition of technology mainly includes the following three aspects: in the stage structure,the stage uses modern technology such as film,lighting,music and slide;In performance technology,the repositioning of actors,roles and audiences;In the drama writing,defamiliarization drama techniques such as narrative drama structure,historical writing techniques and the shaping of contradictory images are used.Third,the realization of technical and dramatic functions.On the one hand,Brecht does not deny the aesthetic function of drama,but it is "truth-seeking entertainment" and pursues the aesthetic effect of defamiliarization.This paper makes a comparative study of Brecht’s defamiliarization theory and Shklovsky’s defamiliarization theory,and takes Galileo as an example to demonstrate the aesthetic function and technical realization of drama,so as to have a profound understanding of it.On the other hand,Brecht emphasizes the educational function of drama.He chooses to stand in the camp of proletariat following in the footsteps of Piscato.The drama expresses strong political appeals and tendencies in order to achieve the purpose of transforming the world.This view is consistent with Benjamin’s "political aesthetics",but Adorno criticizes it.This paper takes The bold Mother and Her Children as an example to demonstrate the educational function and technical realization of drama in order to explore the political ideal of Brecht’s drama.Fourth,The influence and significance of the technical view in Brecht’s drama theory.In terms of theory,the technical view in Brecht’s theory of drama plays a connecting role to the Marxist theory of artistic production: first,art proposed by Marx is a special development of spiritual production.Brecht further points out that artistic production is a part of material production,and they have the same internal structure;Second,it inspires Benjamin’s theory of art production,and Benjamin forms the theory of art production centered on technology.In practice,Brecht’s theory of drama provides unique drama theory and technology for western narrative drama.It also brought fresh blood to the drama creation of the two periods before and after China’s reform and opening up.In the end,it explains how the arts including drama should develop better in the context of the overall impact of technology on social and cultural fields in the modern vision. |
