Nowadays, with the continuous trade frictions and conflicts of interest between China and the United States, the United States uses its full range of resources to study China’s military strategy. The fifteenth and sixteenth chapters of The Evolution of Strategy: Thinking War from Antiquity to the Present are selected as the translation text, with the aim of understanding the western view of the relationship between political aims and the conduct of war. This translation practice is of great importance in promoting intercultural communication and learning about western military perspectives.Guided by the three dimensions of Eco-translatology,several appropriate translation methods and techniques are selected to solve the problems of word collocations, language structures, cultural connotations and communicative intentions. In the linguistic dimension, the translator makes reasonable transformation of word collocations and language structures by adopting translation techniques such as addition, omission, conversion of word classes,reconstruction,subject-theme shift and division to accurately convey the information of the source text.In the cultural dimension, literal translation with annotation and use of Chinese four-character words are used to help readers to understand the cultural connotations better and make the translation lucid and idiomatic. In the communicative dimension, the translator adopts literal translation, free translation and negation to achieve the communicative purpose and its aesthetic effect.Under the guidance of adapting to the eco-environment of the source language and choosing the optimal translation, the translator helps the readers to better understand the military thinking and moral spirit of the source text by reasonably transforming the language structures, cultural connotations and communicative intentions. Moreover, this report is expected to provide references and guidance for the translation of related texts.
