| Study of Yi is the core of Cheng Zhi’s thought,is the methodology of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism theories,he cleverly combines the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism with the concepts of heaven, earth and man of Yi,finding the ontological support for the existence of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism in the form of Buddha’s own heaven,Dao’s own earth and Confucianism own man,and applying the traditional concept of "zhong" to the them, emphasizing impartiality and use "zhong" to include "side".Many thinkers of the Ming dynasty were more concerned with the "commonality" of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism and tried their best to explain the "commonality" of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism from various aspects and angles, while paying little attention to the "differences" of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism. To seek common ground and to emphasize the unity of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism is fundamentally not conducive to the development of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism, nor is it the wish of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism.Cheng Zhi’s idea of the "Confucian,Buddhism and Daoism" can be seen as a response to the more extreme emphasis on the unity of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism. The fundamental premise of Cheng Zhi’s unification of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism is that it is based on a distinction between the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism. The first step in the harmonization of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism is to acknowledge the "differences" of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism,to identify the "differences" of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism before seeking common ground, and to seek common ground while preserving differences to unify the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism.Although Cheng Zhi stresses that the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism are not sequential or superior,he still uses Confucianism to unify the Daoism and Buddhism after clearly identifying their similarities and differences. However,Cheng Zhi’s use of Confucianism to unify the Daoism and Buddhism did not emphasize the superiority of Confucianism over the Daoism and Buddhism in terms of status,so that they could be unified.Rather,he started from the basis of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism and argued," we must establish man before we can establish both heaven and earth." In epistemology,it is stressed that " only by knowing the essence of Confucianism can we also know the essence of Buddhism and Daoism." "If we do not know Buddha as heaven and Daoism as earth, then heaven and earth cannot be connected, and humanity will not be established." It is only after one has clarified the essence of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism that one can stand in the midst of heaven and earth. In this way,Cheng Zhi put the idea of harmonizing the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism into practice and became the "Knowledge of becoming man".This is an important transcendence and contribution to fusion the idea of the Confucianism,Buddhism and Daoism. |
