| Labor holds an important position in Marxist philosophy, and to this day,we can still see the brilliance of its ideas.Arendt examines our current survival situation and provides a new definition of labor, work, and action. She puts forward her unique perspective by defining labor as an inevitable activity that only sustains human physical survival. She believes that the realization of true human freedom should rely on political action in the public domain, and criticizes many contradictions in Marx’s concept of labor. This article takes Arendt’s misreading as the starting point and responds by returning to Marx’s true context, deeply analyzing the profound connotation of Marx’s concept of labor and the relationship between labor, freedom, and history,in order to gain a more profound and comprehensive understanding of Marx’s concept of labor. This article is divided into three parts. The first part starts with the origin of Arendt’s attention to the concept of labor, deeply analyzing the reasons for Arendt’s attention to labor, elaborating on her inspection of labor and her basic interpretation of labor concepts,in order to better understand Arendt’s context. The second part delves into and responds to several main aspects of Arendt’s criticism of Marx’s labor concept, restoring the true context and connotation of Marx’s labor concept, which is conducive to clarifying many misunderstandings about Marx’s labor concept and grasping the true connotation of Marx’s labor concept more clearly. The third chapter summarizes the fundamental reasons for Arendt’s misreading of Marx’s labor concept, mainly because of the different theoretical positions and the different construction of the path to realize human freedom. Then, from the perspective of historical materialism,it analyzes the root problem of Arendt’s realization path, which highlights the rationality of Marx’s labor concept and the transcendence of labor liberation. |
