From Flierburn To Robinbur

This paper aims to analyze the changes that have occurred between the "Chen Yuanda advising Liu Cong" painting first created to frequently copied through the comparison between different copies.The research of this project regards multiple facsimile copies of the Chen yuanda advising Liu cong as a whole image pedigree,enriches the research text of the Chen yuanda advising Liu cong,and examines its changing cultural connotation from a broader perspective.And it provides a new perspective for the study.However,the current study of the Chen yuanda adviging Liu cong mainly focuses on the one collected in the Freeburn Art Museum,while other facsimiles are basically ignored Moreover,most scholars since Shi Shouqian have attributed it to the historical exhortation painting for verification,ignoring more research possibilities of the "Chen yuanda advising Liu cong".Through the comparison of different facsimile images and the examination of documentary materials,this paper sorts out the relationship between different copies,their respective circulation conditions,the creative intentions of different copies,and the views of people on it.Since Chen yuanda advising Liu cong became a motif of painting in Tang Dynasty,there have been records of paintings in successive dynasties,and there existed many copies.In the process of translating from text to image,the images of Chen yuanda adviging Liu cong also show great differences due to many factors such as the concept of the times,the understanding and ability of the painter.Longitudinal research on different facsimiles of Chen yuanda advising Liu cong shows that with the change of the era and historical background,the political exhortation function of Chen yuanda adviging Liu cong had been continuously dissolved and it mainly existed as a collection since Song Dynasty.Meanwhile,with the development of art consumption,Chen yuan da adviging Liu cong had been involved in the art market,and had been treated as an expression of taste and a profit-making commod.
