A Study Of Louise Glück’s Writing Of Time

Louise Glück(1943-)is a famous contemporary poetess in American.In recent years,the academic circle has paid great attention to her creations.Scholars have analyzed and studied her works from various aspects,so as to explore the universal significance of her works.However,in general,there is a lack of targeted research on the writing of time in her poems.Therefore,through the analysis of specific texts,this paper will explore the implicit writing of the time in Louise’s creations and reveal her thinking and cognition of time controlling,as well as her attempts to construct independent consciousness outside of the time.This paper is divided into three parts:introduction,body,conclusion.Introduction:This part mainly summarizes the reasons of choosing to study Louise Glück and her writing of the time,and introduces the research status at home and abroad.The main body of the thesis is divided into three chapters.The first chapter analyzes Louise’s creations in her early and middle period,looking for the shackle writing of time,and explores it from the two aspects of the division and sequence of material time,so as to study Louise’s thinking and cognition of time,as well as her understanding of the meaning of life under the control of time.The second chapter further analyzes and studies the later works on the basis of time cognition.In addition to the shackle writing of time,the poet also produces the part of consciousness that does not fit with the flow of time,namely the autonomous consciousness.This chapter takes the poems created in the later period as an example to search and explore the writing of the self-nature of time in Louise’s poems from the three perspectives of uniqueness,extensibility and diversity.The third chapter discusses another aspect of Louise’s writing about time,namely the integration of time.Based on the theory of the philosophy of time,this chapter explores the dialectical relationship between the writing of the time in shackle and self aspects respectively,and analyzes how Louise constructs the whole of consciousness about the time and the final pursuit of free will in her creations,as well as exploring the unified writing of the time in Louise’s creations as a whole.Conclusion:This paper summarizes the whole text and expounds the universal significance of time writing in Louise’s poems.In her creations,Louise creates two kinds of time in the material world at the same time,namely the shackle time and the self time,and unifies these two parts in the end with the purpose of showing the perfect state of consciousness’s flow.In the writing of the time,Louise does not ignore the conscious time in the material time,but seeks the conscious time in the material time and liberates it,so as to obtain the inner consciousness in the universal time.
