| As society and the economy continue to develop,English is the most widely used language in everyday life.More and more people will need to learn English.The trend of economic globalization is unstoppable,and with the great changes in the world political situation,international exchanges have become more frequent,requiring Chinese people to learn and master English.English is an important part of the new curriculum reform.It’s not only a language,but also a culture and a means of communication.In this sense,learning English is no longer just about improving the level and performance of English,but more importantly about raising people’s awareness of language and cultural differences,diversity and its importance.It is obvious that with a certain level of English,students can fully understand the background knowledge of world culture and participate fully in international exchanges.However,in the traditional teaching of English,where the teacher remains central,the teacher occupies a predominant place in the class,the student only neglects the acquisition of knowledge,the lack of active learning and practical application ignores the students’ initiative and enthusiasm.Paying attention to language teaching but neglecting to cultivate students’ communicative competence leads to students knowing only one language or expressing themselves in Chinese.This thesis attempts to apply the TPR teaching method to different types of classroom teaching in elementary English to explore the application of the TPR teaching method in elementary English teaching and to improve students’ interest in learning.The innovation of this paper is to study how to use the Total Physical Response(TPR)teaching method for different types of classes through teaching cases and designs.TPR is the abbreviation of Total Physical Response.Firstly,this thesis is the introduction.It focuses on the research background and significance of the thesis,briefly introduces the research objects,research thoughts and the innovation of this paper.Secondly,it describes the research and development of TPR teaching at home and abroad,and introduces its theories and concepts related to TPR teaching.Thirdly,this paper summarizes and analyse the current situation of the application of TPR teaching method in the lower primary school through interviews with teachers.Then it summarizes the application strategies of TPR in practical teaching according to the application status.What’s more,it applies the strategies to the teaching practice cases,further demonstrating the feasibility of using TPR in primary school English classrooms and highlighting the advantages of the TPR teaching method.Finally,based on the theory and practice,the conclusion is that the application of TPR teaching method in English teaching of primary school students has played a very good role in promoting the development of learning.At the same time,the shortcomings of TPR are systematically analyzed and the main trends of further research are pointed out.In conclusion,the TPR approach has a positive contribution to English learning in most of the lower grades,but a better way of teaching the tedious systematic grammar of language learning in practice using the TPR approach has yet to be found,and this is a direction that later researchers will need to discuss and investigate.Therefore,if we want to truly acquire all the knowledge in language learning for different types of lessons,we must explore the TPR teaching method in depth. |
