Documentary Creation Elaboration Of "Town Mayor Lee"

Social background is the soil for documentary creation,and documentaries rooted in the real social background can make viewers resonate and think.With the comprehensive victory in the war against poverty in China,more documentary video works with the theme of poverty alleviation have emerged.As an important carrier to truly record the development process of the country and the nation,documentary films bear many social responsibilities.Although the documentary "Town Mayor Lee" focuses on such a big topic as the collaboration between Fujian and Ningxia to alleviate poverty,it chooses to start from the stories that are happening in small towns and small people in the background of the policy,using small cuts to reflect the big theme.The film takes Li Huiqin,a Fujian aid cadre in Minning Town,Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,as the main character.Through the creator’s research and follow-up filming for nearly a year,the film was shot across Fujian and Ningxia provinces and regions,objectively recording the real face of Li Huiqin’s work and life.As a participatory documentary,the film does not avoid the creator’s appearance and presence,and the creator actively participates in the development of the plot as a supporting character,and adopts a first-person narrative perspective to tell the story of Li Huiqin’s personal story to map out the assistance relay and the deep friendship between Fujian and Ningxia over the past 26 years.This work hopes to break the previous official propaganda discourse system and use a youthful student perspective to record the stories of the characters in the Min-Ning collaboration,presenting a different content form to the audience.The creation process of the documentary "Town Mayor Lee" went through the stages of pre-selection research,mid-term shooting and post-production.This paper combines theory and practice to analyze the creation process and content of the film,summarize personal creative experience,and hope to provide reference value for subsequent documentaries on related topics,and also leave a valuable image material for Min-Ning collaboration.
