On Lu Chen's Contribution To The Development Of Modern Chinese Freehand Figure Paintin

Lu Chen plays a pivotal role in the field of Chinese freehand figure painting and has made considerable achievements.On the basis of Chinese traditional freehand figure painting,he took the initiative to learn the advantages of western painting,and constantly carried out practice and innovation,which made Chinese traditional freehand figure painting reach an unprecedented height and opened anew style of Chinese freehand figure painting.Lu Chen is good at freehand figure painting.His early works are famous for his solid modeling skills.They are mainly realistic works,focusing on the inheritance and innovation of traditional freehand painting.In many of Lu Chen’s early works,especially the"Motorcycle Doctor",which is based on real life and mainly shows the scene of the workers happily seeing the repaired locomotive away after the doctor sent it away,is the main representative work.After the reform and opening up,western aesthetic theories were gradually introduced into China.In order to break through the dilemma of Chinese painting,Lu Chen integrated the composition concept of western modernist art into the traditional pen and ink creation of Chinese painting,and sought innovation in active exploration,focusing on the "freehand" figure painting and"composition" ink painting direction.On this basis,it puts forward the far-reaching theory of "composition of ink painting".In the 1990s,Lu Chen began to explore freehand figure painting,thus forming a painting style of "simple brushwork with sufficient meaning and vivid charm".In this paper,Lu Chen’s contribution to the development of modern Chinese freehand figure painting is comprehensively discussed through the collation of his artistic thoughts in several important periods of turning points in his entire artistic career,and the important influence of the characteristics of his representative works and artistic thoughts in these periods on my practical creation.
