In modern and contemporary painting creation,with the development of science and technology and the dissemination of media,images are produced and replicated in a large number of ways,quickly and conveniently.Images are also increasingly widely used by artists as creative materials,thus playing an important role in the application of images in contemporary painting creation.In the development of contemporary painting,artist R.B.Kitaj’s application of images in the creative process has greatly inspired the world.In R.B.Kitaj’s painting art,various forms of images were flexibly applied and given new meanings.So what is the reason for R.B.Kitaj choice and use of these images?What impact did these images have on his own creation?How did he convert these images into his own painting language?This article will discuss from three parts:The first part is the role and influence of images on contemporary painting,that is,the macro exploration of the impact and role of image application on art.The second part is to analyze which images he chose as artistic resources in his creation through the study of R.B.Kitaj art,and to study how he processed these images for painting through his specific works.The third part is to combine the experience gained through research on R.B.Kitaj creation with his own painting creation,in order to learn R.B.Kitaj application of images and explore innovative artistic methods in his painting language.The term "image" used in this article mainly refers to the images presented in photos,images,and artworks.
