This paper is a translation practice report.The source text of this report is an excerpt of The Way to Eliminate Threats to Russia under the Framework of the Russia-US-China Strategic Triangle,published in October 2020,by Russian scholar Morozov Yuri Vasilievich.The disintegration of the Soviet Union broke the bipolar pattern of the world,and a new strategic triangular relationship was formed between China,the United States and Russia.China,the U.S.and Russia have become the three major powers with the most geopolitical influence in the world.The development and evolution of the relations between the three countries has a profound impact on the changes of the world security situation.Military and political texts are of great significance in the field of translation.From the perspective of China’s military power construction and foreign exchanges,the demand for translation of military and political texts is increasing,and the requirements of translators’ professional skills for military in China are also increasing.Rhetorical analysis shows that the source text belongs to the scientific genre.On the basis of fully understanding Schweitzer’s equivalence theory,the author translates the source text from Russian into Chinese under the guidance of translation equivalence theory,and summarizes the translation theory,principles and methods by himself.It is hoped that this translation practice can provide suggestions for the translation of military political texts.It is also hoped that the target readers can provide a more in-depth and comprehensive understanding of Russia’s methods and measures to safeguard national security through the research results of foreign experts on Russia’s elimination of threats.The translation practice report consists of five parts: introduction,three chapters,conclusion,references and appendix.The introduction includes the following contents: introducing the background and purpose of the topic,introducing the author and main content of the source text,and explaining the theoretical significance,practical significance and innovation of the project.The first chapter states the theoretical basis of translation.This chapter systematically expounds the theory of equivalence translation of Y.D.Schweitzer and strategies at the level of syntactic equivalence,semantic equivalence and pragmatic equivalence.The second chapter describes the translation practice project,including pre-translation preparations,analysis of linguistic features,translation process and proofreading.The first section introduces translation preparations.The translator selected the source text and converted it.The second section analyzes the linguistic characteristics of the source text from three levels of vocabulary,morphology and syntax.The third section puts forward translation principles based on Schweitzer’s equivalence thought and complete the translation work.The fourth section elaborates the post-translation work,including self-revision,reader trial reading,and supervisor proofreading.The third chapter presents case studies from syntactic equivalence,semantic equivalence and pragmatic equivalence,and analyzes the application of various translation strategies in the translation process through specific examples.The conclusion summarizes and reflects on this translation practice.
