| English reading is an integral part of English teaching,and also,English reading teaching design has an important role in English teaching of junior high school.Since activity-based learning concept firstly appeared in English Curriculum Standard for Senior High Schools(2017),it has become one of the essential concepts in the construction of students’ core literacy and moral education,which is also helpful for students to promote the core literacy of English subject.Therefore,this thesis combines the activity-based learning concept with English reading teaching of junior high school,aiming to explore the effective way of applying activity-based learning in English reading learning of junior high school students and to provide a reference for junior high school English teachers on how to apply the activity-based learning concept in English reading teaching.It will also help junior high school students improve their reading skills and core literacy of English subject.This thesis is on how to implement English reading instruction of junior high school based on the activity-based learning concept through an action research.Junior high school students from an experimental school in Qingzhen City are chosen as the research subjects.Before the action research,the author uses the pre-test to learn about English reading level of the research subjects and the questionnaire to learn about English reading teaching status of English teachers in the school,and then proposes research questions.The research questions are as follows:Firstly,what factors need to be considered in improving English reading instruction of junior high schools under the guidance of activity-based learning concept? Secondly,how to develop English reading level of junior high school students through English reading teaching activities under the guidance of activity-based learning concept? In the first round of the action research,the author designs and reflects on the effectiveness of reading instruction from three dimensions of the activity-based learning concept.Based on the reflections on the first round of the action research,the author creates contexts around the reading topics under the guidance of the activity-based learning concept during the second round of action research,which is to activate students’ existing language knowledge greatly and improve their English reading level effectively.After two rounds of the action research,the author interviews research subjects to find out how they think about English reading class based on the activity-based learning concept,and then,to identify whether their English reading skills have been improved or not through a post-test.Through the thesis,it’s clear that English reading instruction of junior high school based on the activity-based learning concept can stimulate junior high school students’ interest in English reading and help improve their English reading level.Under the guidance of the activity-based learning concept,it’s also shown that teachers need have a holistic awareness on English reading teaching design combined with various learning activities composed of comprehensiveness,relevance and practicality,which can help junior high school students develop English reading thinking and improve their English reading skills. |
