A Multi-Angle Study On The Adverb Of Degree "Ting"

Degree adverbs are an important grammatical means of expressing degree in Chinese.This article systematically grasps the semantic origin of the adverb of "ting" by analyzing its semantics,syntax and pragmatics,analyzes its syntactic function in detail,discusses its pragmatic differentiation,and tries to explain its reasons and mechanisms.First of all,we trace the meaning of the degree adverb "Ting" and think that its adverb meaning comes from the original meaning of "Ba","Ting" means "moderately high degree of subjective evaluation",with the speaker’s subjective inclination,often used in To express personal opinions,in the process of grammaticalization,the modal function is gradually highlighted.Secondly,the syntactic features of the adverb of degree "Ting" are described,and it is considered that it can modify adjectives,verbs(and verb phrases),nouns,pronouns and idioms."Ting" and "Ting" phrases can act as adverbs,complements and objects in sentences."Ting" can be used with similar low-degree adverbs "You Dian" and "You Xie"(both mean "some"),and can also be used with range adverbs,time(frequency)adverbs,emotional adverbs,related adverbs,affirmative adverbs,and negative adverbs.Then,by analyzing the pragmatic features of the degree adverb "Ting",it is concluded that "Ting" has six pragmatic features: the degree of confirmation,the degree of emphasis,the degree of conversion,the expression of concession,the expression of surprise and the expression of daily greetings.And use a questionnaire to conduct a recognition survey of the above characteristics.Finally,this paper probes into the reasons and mechanism of the development and evolution of the degree adverb "Ting",and believes that context absorption,subjectivity and subjectivization,pragmatic principles,and the inherent characteristics of degree categories are important factors in the evolution and development of "Ting".To a certain extent,these explain the reasons for the semantic differentiation of "Ting" and the future direction of grammaticalization.
