| In today’s society,core literacy is undoubtedly one of the hottest topics.With the increasing development of social economy,it is necessary to develop the core quality of students in order to cultivate international talents to adapt to the development of the new century.English subject core literacy is one of the important components of students’ core literacy.The 2022 version of English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education points out that the curriculum objectives should be determined around the core literacy,curriculum content should be selected,and teaching methods should be innovated(curriculum 2022).In the core accomplishment of English subject,English language ability is the basic element,and the improvement of language ability helps to improve students’ cultural character,thinking quality and learning ability.The development of students’ English language ability is conducive to the realization of the core accomplishment of English subject,so it is necessary to develop students’ English language ability.As an innovative teaching method,cooperative learning can promote students’ learning initiative and enthusiasm,and promote them to actively participate in classroom discussion and communication.With the gradual advancement of the new round of curriculum reform,teaching concepts such as "independent inquiry,cooperation and exchange" continue to be deeply embedded in the teaching of various subjects in junior high schools.According to the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 edition),teachers should guide students to actively cooperate with others in group activities,help each other and complete the teaching tasks together.Therefore,on the basis of the theory of developing language ability based on cooperative learning,this study explores the strategy based on cooperative learning,and applies the strategy to specific practice to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the strategy.This study will address the following three questions:(1)What is the current status of middle school students’ English language ability?(2)How to implement cooperative learning in English teaching?(3)Can the application of cooperative learning in daily teaching improve the language ability of students?This study sorted out relevant studies and theories on English language ability and cooperative learning by searching relevant literature at home and abroad,and conducted a one-semester experimental study with 76 students from two classes of the second grade of a middle school in Tianquan County as the research objects.The experimental class(38 students)implemented the cooperative learning teaching model;The control class(38 students)continued the original teaching mode.During the experiment,the data of two questionnaires before and after the experiment were used to analyze the changes of language ability related aspects.The data obtained were analyzed and processed by spss26.0.Through data analysis,this study made the following findings:First of all,after an 18-week experimental study,through the comparative analysis of the questionnaire data before and after the application of cooperative learning teaching strategy,the students’ attitude in language learning has been significantly improved.Secondly,the language comprehension ability and expression ability were effectively improved.Finally,the cooperative learning method creates an atmosphere of equal communication for students,relieves students’ pressure,enhances students’ initiative and enthusiasm in language learning,and improves students’ language learning experience. |
