| Chinese textbooks reflect the changes in Chinese education,and contain historical and contemporary values.The compilation should be in line with national conditions and reflect Chinese cultural demands.Malaysia has a complete Chinese education system,and attaches great importance to the compilation and improvement of Chinese textbooks.Based on the history of Chinese education development in Malaysia and the history of overseas Chinese protests,etc.,this research analyzes the collected Chinese textbooks for primary schools in Malaysia since the 19 th century from a diachronic perspective.It explores the characteristics of Chinese education in Malaysia in different historical periods,and further discusses how the social and historical environment,educational policies,and cultural changes in Malaysia affect the compilation of Chinese textbooks.This study is based on whether the Chinese textbooks for primary schools in Malaysia are independently written or not.It uses inductive method,statistical method and comparative analysis method to sort out the historical stages of Chinese textbooks in primary schools in Malaysia since the 19 th century,namely the period of enlightenment readers,non-self-edited textbooks,and self-compiled textbooks.Then,combined with some teaching material data,it analyzes the changes in the content of teaching materials in different periods and their periodic characteristics.The research results are as follows: in the concept of textbook compilation,the Chinese textbooks for primary schools in Malaysia show changes in inherited culture,Sinicization,Anionization,and Malaysianization;in terms of theme and ideological connotation of textbooks,these textbooks have experienced changes in loving China,resisting foreign enemies,opposing foreign powers,being loyal to the country,and localization;in the selection of cultural factors of textbooks,emphasis is placed on Malaysian culture,while relatively weakening Chinese culture and striving for cultural diversity;in the overall arrangement structure,the unit structure is gradually improved,and the selection of texts tends to be more diverse;in terms of exercise design,various exercises are based on the requirements of Chinese teaching and Chinese learners’ capabilities and needs.Based on this,it analyzes the factors affecting the development and evolution of teaching materials,such as social environment,education laws,Chinese social demands,and ethnic identity.The research found that the problems in the compilation of Chinese textbooks for primary schools in Malaysia are as follows: the content related to the localized cultural background is blunt,the skills training is relatively lacking,and the humanities of language learning are ignored.This inspires that the compilation of Chinese textbooks in the future should pay more attention to the selection of cultural materials,and combine the instrumental and humanistic nature of teaching materials. |
